Sources, evidence and licences
Facts retain their original source. An interpretation never replaces the evidence.
Open Food Facts
FoodClear uses selected product information from Open Food Facts, a collaborative database. It is a source of package information, not a guarantee of completeness, freshness or manufacturer verification. FoodClear preserves attribution, source versions and licence information alongside supported facts.
- Database: Open Database License (ODbL) 1.0.
- Individual database contents: Database Contents License (DbCL) 1.0.
- Open Food Facts product images: Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0; additional packaging rights may apply.
FoodClear-owned contracts and calculations do not make copied upstream data proprietary. Public use or redistribution of a qualifying adapted OFF database, including output produced from it, must satisfy applicable ODbL attribution, share-alike and database-access obligations. This website contains no product database or OFF product images. No downloadable combined database or public product API is offered here.

Reviewed package information
Local OCR uses Apple Vision on iOS and Google ML Kit on Android. Text remains a draft until reviewed. Manual transcription is explicitly labelled; it is not manufacturer verification. Unidentified local text does not create an invented shared product identity.
In the limited private development service, users submit only minimum reviewed structured facts and exact package wording. Server validation determines admission and field-bound confirmation. Matching observations from two independent installations can support confirmation of their matching fields. Installation independence is not proof of two unique people. Repeated transport requests do not add observations.
Rules and explanations
FoodClear uses versioned deterministic classifications with exact source links. Nutrition thresholds and the ingredient rubric belong to FoodClear Score V1. A classified additive, research context or precaution is not evidence that a contaminant was detected in a product or batch.
Printed warnings outside an ingredient list retain their wording when captured and supported. An unread panel, unsupported language or missing record is an explicit limitation, not proof of absence.
